Solvent Drying
Using a MicroCare cleaner after an aqueous or semi-aqueous pre-cleaning process is a great "one-two" punch. This technically is called “solvent drying.” The idea is to use the aqueous cleaners for the coarse cleaning and then use the MicroCare fluids for the final, ultra-fine tweaking at the end of the process. This is possible because the MicroCare cleaners will not mix with water.
Solvent drying is most common in optical and photonics applications where the parts are relatively clean and there is not a lot of water, so the the MicroCare fluid absorbs the water, disolves any residual ionics, and delivers fast, reliable and consistent cleaning. If larger amounts of water need to be removed, there are special formulations which use a surfactant blended with the solvent to capture large quantities of water.
Fast, consistent cleaning without water-spots makes solvent drying a popular choice:
MicroCare® CFIPA Particle Rinse
DuPont™ Vertrel® XP10 (for small quantities of water)
DuPont™ Vertrel® XDA/XDF (for heavily contaminated surfaces and large quantities of water)
